Making an offer and starting work

A project usually runs more smoothly when the important operational decisions are made before anyone starts building.

Align on the shape of the work

Before work begins, both sides should understand what is in scope, what is still emerging, and what decisions will need review during the project.

Set the commercial structure clearly

Rates, budget shape, time limits, and the expected pace of work should be discussed directly. Early clarity reduces avoidable tension later.

Agree on communication rhythm

Define how updates should happen, who gives feedback, how quickly decisions can be made, and how blockers should be raised.

Clarify availability and ownership

Make sure both sides understand when work will happen, who owns approvals, and how urgent changes should be handled.

Start with momentum, not confusion

A good start is one where the first week is spent moving the work forward rather than untangling missing context or mismatched assumptions.
